Who is your photographer?
Hi! I am a Mum of 3 boys and wife of handyman Scotty. I’m an introvert, a type A personality, am known for being straight up, honest and friendly, and I love a good steak. I grew up in Whakatane; my parents were dairy farmers in Taneatua /Waimana and I was crazy into horses and animals. I left to study Animal Behaviour at Waikato University when I was 18, and got stuck there - I got a good job, met a guy, got myself a village and a life. When we had our first child in 2012, I decided to try photography as a potential job that would work around my family, as I had always loved art and creating beautiful pictures, but I had been forced to drop art as a subject at school to pursue a science degree (yet here I am haha). I originally thought I wanted to be a wedding photographer but quickly discovered it was portrait photography that really got me excited. In the 6 years from when I first tried using a DSLR, to now, I have lived, breathed, and slept photography ever since, it turns out it is my calling and I will never stop as long as I can move.
In March 2018, we sold our Handyman Business and moved here to Whakatane to be with family and be back at the beach again. Thankfully my husband Scotty (who is originally from the Wairarapa) has fallen for this wonderful town I have always called home, and we are here to stay. We have bought a “do up” to be our family home, and it is a work in progress! But it has a good setup for your studio portraits when you come for your indoor portrait experience and we are currently working on a brand new on-site custom studio.
I aim to make your session as easy as possible for you, and to deliver on what I say I will do, and a little more. I want you to want to come back to me again.
Natural, Fresh, Beautiful.
Natural: You look like yourselves. Your smiles are real. Your photos show how you feel about each other.
Fresh: I aim for light to enhance your image in a beautiful way, your images will clean and clear and you will be the star. Nothing else will compete with you in your photos.
Beautiful: Your photos will be so beautiful you can’t help but frame them and put them on the wall. The colours are beautiful, you look beautiful, and they make your wall look beautiful.
I am in the process of building a studio at my home between Edgecumbe and Matata. In the meantime, I have a portable studio in my home where we have everything we need for your portrait session. Whether it is pregnancy, newborn or family portraits, we can do in studio or shoot at the location of your choice. I can travel for your portrait session to anywhere in the Whakatane District.
"Sarah took some beautiful photos of our family. She was lovely to deal with and so easy to talk to. I love her natural style and would recommend her to others. We will definitely use Sarah again!" - Lawrence family.
